The Via Flanatica is a beautiful round trip through the rural south-east of Istria. The name comes from an old Roman road that once connected Pula with Liburnia. Parts of the cycle path follow the old road. More information about this route can be found at istria-bike.com.
The tour is mostly on small asphalted roads and can be driven on trekking bikes. Due to the steep ascents at Luka Krnica and Uvala Blaz, however, the route should only be tackled by experienced drivers. The usual starting and finishing point is the village of Marčana, but of course you can also start from any other point along the route. If the two steep climbs are too steep, the bay of Luka Krnica can be left out by taking the road 5123 between Krnica and Rakalj.
